Final Major Project: Progress #1

Hi Everyone!
I started my Final Major Project for my Art Foundation course a few week back, so I wanted to start putting some images on my blog of some of the work I create going on to my final exhibition. For previous projects on this course I have created dresses using paper origami (you can see the last dress I made here) so I wanted to explore this method further and also bring in different techniques in order to make my exhibition piece bigger and better than my previous work. One of the new techniques I am wanting to bring into my work is laser cutting patterns to include on my designs. So far I have laser cut a few test pieces to work with on the mannequin and I am liking how they look, so this is something I am going to continue working with. I really liked combining the laser cut outs with the origami as I think the delicacy of the cut outs contrasts really well against the geometric shapes.

Now that I have experimented on the mannequin and realised I definitely want to work with origami and laser cutting, I decided to take my work onto Photoshop and start designing some dress ideas so I can start thinking more about what I actually want to create for my final exhibition. The idea behind my whole work is the contrast between good and evil, and I know I want to create something really extravagant and theatrical, so these are just a couple of quick Photoshop pieces I created yesterday as a starting point. If anyone would like a blog post or video on how I use Photoshop to edit designs I'd be happy to do that.

I'm starting to get to the most exciting (and probably most stressful) part of my project now where it's going to be full on designing and making, so look forward to lots more pictures soon when I'm in full swing with it.
